TNM Drill Down: Canada produced the best gold assay of Feb. 10-17
Our TNM Drill Down features highlights of the top gold assays of the past week. Drill holes are ranked by gold grade x width, as identified by our sister company Mining Intelligence.
Wesdome Gold Mines (TSX: WDO) reported this week’s top gold assay from its Kiena project in Val-d’Or, Que. Hole N112-6861 returned an intercept of 10 metres grading 75.64 grams gold per tonne from 339 metres depth for a width x grade value of 756. The company reported on Feb. 14 underground exploration drilling from the Kiena Deep A zone, highlighting better-defined and expanded recent discoveries next to the Kiena Deep A Zone. These new areas of interest entail the Footwall, South Limb and Hanging Wall Basalt zones. These zones can increase the number of ounces per vertical metre and provide additional working faces during mining using the same underground infrastructure utilized to access the A zone. Additionally, recent drilling has extended the A zone a further 125 metres down plunge, illustrating the future growth potential of this zone. Testing the depth potential remains one of the focuses of current drilling.
Collective Mining (CSE: CNL) produced the second-best assay result of the week at its Guayabales project in Colombia. Hole APC-28 returned 601.7 metres grading 0.89 grams gold per tonne from 354.7 metres depth for a width x grade value of 536. Step-out drill hole APC-28 was drilled west from the eastern side of the Main Breccia system at Apollo and cut the longest intercept to date. The hole bottomed while still in mineralization, indicating that the Main Breccia system remains open for expansion to the west and at depth (as well as to the east and north based on previously announced assay results). Four holes have now been completed into the Main Breccia system as part of the 2023 Phase II drill program at the Guayabales project. All four holes appear to have intercepted the Main Breccia system, with mineralization beginning from the surface. Assay results for these holes are expected in the near term.
Australia-based De Grey Mining (ASX: DEG) reported the week’s third-best assay result from its Mallina project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Hole MWMT0005 returned 155.7 metres grading 2.3 grams gold per tonne from 119 metres depth for a width x grade value of 358. The hole showed strong continuity and grade of the Withnell Main Lode defined in the metallurgical drill hole. The drill was designed to test the down plunge orientation of mineralization and shows potential to extend mineralization below the existing resource model.
